TRA Skills Assessment for Trades via the Job Ready Program

TRA (Trades Recognition Australia) is the government body that assesses skills for technical trade occupations — welders, fitters, electricians, construction workers, cooks and many other trades. Unlike most authorities, which only review a paper file, many trades go through a program that includes a stage of real, supervised work in Australia.

What the Job Ready Program is

For many trades, the main assessment pathway is the Job Ready Program (JRP) — a sequence of steps: an initial assessment (Provisional Skills Assessment), a period of actual work in your nominated occupation in Australia (Job Ready Employment), and then a final assessment (Job Ready Final Assessment). This is very different from occupations where you simply lodge a file.
